Monday’s Musings

There is a need for a lot of help in the world right now.  Where do you go for your help? Psalm 21 says:

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills–from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved, he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel shall neither slumber or sleep. The Lord is your keeper, the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil, he shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve if your going out and your coming in. From this time forth, and forever more.”

You may be aware, I volunteer at the Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove in Asheville North Carolina. It’s an incredible place to volunteer! They have many programs which include seminars, workshops, pastor renewal retreats, military marriage retreats, and spiritual retreats. They also have a Rapid Response Team who are trained as a chaplains with disaster relief capabilities (training is available.) The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association also partners with Samaritan’s purse who goes into areas affected by disasters and is there to help with recovery efforts. The Rapid Response Team chaplains have been deployed to Florida and Texas and Puerto Rico following Hurricanes Irma and Harvey and Maria. Currently in Florida, chaplains are responding alongside Samaritan’s Purse in Key West and Naples, and in evacuee shelters in Tallahassee. In addition, chaplains continue to have a presence in the Texas communities of Victoria, Rockport/Portland, Santa Fe, Pearland and Houston. (This includes terror generated recovery efforts such as what happened in Las Vegas. They have probably already been deployed.)

I have included some of their recent activities below. You can also go to thecove.org and samaritanspurse.org to find everything that they offer.  It would be impossible for me to list everything both of those organizations are involved in.  If you have not donated to the relief efforts, these are two amazing organizations that you may want to consider.

  1. Dear Jo Ann, I am glad you shared this post. Samaritan’s Purse is one of the mission and charity organizations that I hope to one day donate proceeds from our books. (We have not sold enough to write them a check.) We hope to publish PRAYERS That Brought the House Down this month.
I very much enjoyed reading yours and as soon as I can I will write a review.
Have a blessed remainder of the week.
