Scriptures for Sunday

Father God, You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.[i] “Every good and perfect gift comes from you, the Father of Lights.”[ii] Please forgive me when I try to operate in my own sense of self-sufficiency, my own wisdom, and try to figure out my own plan. Forgive me, Lord, for running ahead of You or slowing down and not keeping up with You. I desire to be clay in Your hand, for You are my Potter.[iii] My desire is to be Your love letter to others written not with ink but Your Spirit and not on tablets but on the hearts of others.[iv]

I know that all things that pertain to life and godliness You have given me. You have given me “exceedingly great and precious promises.”[v] All of your promises are “Yes and Amen.”[vi] I do not count myself as apprehended all of Your wonderful mysteries, but I pray for You to help me to forget those which are behind and reach forward to those things which are ahead.[vii] My desire is to tremble at Your word.[viii] My desire is that Your hope will fill me with “all joy and peace as I trust in you so that I may overflow with hope by the Holy Spirit.”[ix] My desire is to think about all things that are true and noble and just and pure and lovely and have a good report.

I pray, Father, that if there is any virtue, anything praiseworthy, that I will meditate on these things.[x] I know that I am Your workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do the good works You create for me.[xi] I know that I am established, anointed, and sealed in You.[xii] Thank You that “no weapon formed against me will prosper.”[xiii] I want to be so committed to Your will that I can say “be it to me according to your word.”[xiv]  I know that I “can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”[xv] I have confidence that You will complete the good work You started in me.[xvi]

May I “rejoice always and pray without ceasing by in everything giving thanks for that is Your will.”[xvii]  Now to “You, who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that I can ask or think, be the glory to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”[xviii]
