I am not a better person. Ephesians 4:32 says “and be kind to one another, tend tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ for gave you.” Colossians 3:12-14 says “therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ forgave you, so you must do. The Lords prayer says, and “forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.”
Does this mean it’s easy? Absolutely not. Some circumstances might hang around for decades, but we must always be willing to ask for forgiveness, both from God and the other person. I find that the longer I wait, the harder it is to get rid of the bitterness! We must be in a right relationship with the Father through the Son and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
