During this Easter season, may I suggest it is timely for you to think about what Jesus did on the cross?
Why do we say Friday is good? Because “God so that the world he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world but through Him the world would be saved.” John 3:16-17
You’ll notice that it says world. That includes the crazy or hateful neighbor, the one that can’t forgive you, the one you can’t forgive, your spouse who abandoned you, your spouse who divorced you, you’re children who don’t have respect for you, the person who keeps telling you what you should do, the one who doesn’t understand your weaknesses, the abuser, the one who breaks the law and has to go to prison, the one who tells you how stupid you are, the one who tells you to cowboy up and just deal with it, the alcoholic, drug addict, the employer who fired or laid you off and…….. (You fill in the blank!)
And even you.
Then comes Easter! Consider 1 Corinthians 15:
3 “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once,
12 “Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.
20 “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
35 “But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?” 36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. 37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain. 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I know I will spend eternity in Heaven. Do you? Is it timely to consider what all of this means? Only you can answer that!
